1. The service
Compress Private is a free, browser-based tool that compresses files locally on your device. It is provided for your personal and commercial use at no charge. Because compression runs entirely in your browser, the files you compress are never uploaded to or handled by us.
2. Your files and content
You keep all rights to the files you compress — using this tool grants us no ownership of, or rights to, your content. You are responsible for the files you process and for ensuring you have the right to use them. You agree not to use the tool for any unlawful purpose or in violation of anyone's rights.
3. Free service, provided "as is"
The tool is offered free of charge and on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will compress every file, or produce a specific result or file size. Compression quality and savings vary by file, and some already-optimised files may not shrink at all.
4. Keep your originals
Compression can be lossy, and software can have bugs. Always keep a copy of your original files. We are not responsible for any loss of, or damage to, files or data arising from use of the tool.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the tool and its maker will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Since the service is free, no fees have been paid that could form the basis of a larger claim.
6. Acceptable use
Please don't attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service or its infrastructure, and don't use automated means to hammer it in ways that would degrade it for others. We may limit or block access that appears abusive.
7. Changes to the service and terms
The tool is actively developed, so features may be added, changed, or removed over time. These terms may also be updated; the current version will always be posted here. Continuing to use the tool after changes means you accept the updated terms.
